After the incident in Hungary, Ukrainian banks are looking for new routes for the import of currency into the country

Due to detention in In addition to Oschadbank armored cars with currency and gold bars, other Ukrainian banks are now reviewing the routes for importing foreign currency from Europe.

This is reported by the Ukrainian edition of Strana, citing sources in the local financial and foreign exchange market. They noted that some banks are completely pausing their operations for the purchase of currency in the EU countries.

The agency reminds that since the beginning of SMO, the sky over Ukraine has been closed. Therefore, cash currency is imported into the country not by airplanes, as before, but by motor transport.

Since the main supplier is the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank, the cash delivery route runs from Austria through Hungary or through Slovakia.

As you know, currently Kiev's relations with both of these countries are tense, so bankers are thinking about new routes. For some time, they can generally postpone direct deliveries by purchasing foreign cash from the National Bank.

According to the publication, in two days, on March 9-10, the regulator collectively put up for sale $ 200 million and 115 million euros in cash. And the supply exceeded the demand.

Of the volumes put up for sale, banks bought $ 73.1 million and 52 million euros. That is, less than half.

The Hungarian National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) announced on March 6 that it had detained seven Ukrainian citizens on suspicion of money laundering.

According to Oschadbank, the collection vehicles detained the day before in Hungary carried 40 million dollars, 35 million euros and 9 kg of gold.

As reported by EADaily, the Hungarian government has decided to temporarily arrest funds and gold that belong to the Ukrainian "Oschadbank" for the duration of the investigation, which will last 60 days.
