The United States and Israel were to discuss their plans for a military operation against Iran at relevant international venues, including at The UN Security Council to ensure the legitimacy of its actions. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrault at a press conference in Paris.
"The unilateral decision of Israel and the United States to intervene deserved discussion in the collective bodies provided for this purpose. In this way, everyone could take on their share of responsibility, since only after discussion in the In the Security Council, the use of force may acquire the necessary legitimacy," the minister said, quoted by TASS.
As the Foreign Minister stressed, "the endless continuation of military operations without a clear goal is fraught with the risk of a chain reaction that will plunge Iran and the entire region into a long period of instability with a very uncertain outcome and damage our interests."
The Minister confirmed the strike on the National Navy facility in the United Arab Emirates:
"Yesterday, the hangar of our naval base in the Emirates was hit by a drone attack targeting the port of Abu Dhabi. Fortunately, the damage was only material and limited."
The Foreign Minister assured of full support and all—round solidarity to friendly states that, as he pointed out, were deliberately attacked by missiles and drones of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and dragged into a war they did not choose - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Jordan.
According to Barraud, Paris is ready, in accordance with the agreements linking it with partners, as well as with the principles of collective self-defense enshrined in international law, to take part in ensuring their protection.
As reported, the AFP news agency previously informed that as a result of an Iranian UAV strike on a military base in Abu Dhabi, where French troops are located, a fire broke out at the facility. French Minister of the Armed Forces Catherine Vautrin said that the French military at the base "are in a state of maximum readiness due to the situation, which is changing every hour."
