Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko, at the initiative of Tehran, discussed today, March 2, at a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, the aggression of the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic. Russia has categorically condemned the assassination of the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This is stated in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The situation in the Middle East was discussed in connection with the aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran. The Russian side once again expressed categorical condemnation of the assassination of the Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, and other Iranian representatives," the statement said.
Borisenko noted the inadmissibility of further escalation of tensions in the Middle East, including taking into account the presence of a large number of Russian tourists in the region.
"At the same time, attention was drawn to the inadmissibility of further escalation of tension in the region, including taking into account the concerns of the Iranians' neighbors in the Persian Gulf, as well as the presence of a large number of Russian tourists in the relevant countries," the Foreign ministry noted.
As indicated, the meeting was held at the request of the Iranian diplomat.
As reported, the blow to the supreme leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was struck during his meeting at the residence with senior officers.
