The European Union should make decisions faster and have clearer collective planning in case NATO's actions are politically limited. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginene.
According to her, "we need the Armed Forces of European countries and the American military. but you never know what might happen."
"Therefore, the first priority should be to strengthen the European Union and understand that these are European Armed Forces, and not Lithuanian, Latvian, Spanish or German," she said.
Ruginene noted that she believes in a "strong NATO." At the same time, she called on the EU to make decisions faster and have clearer collective planning in case NATO's actions are politically limited.
"We need a plan B. We need to discuss how we can ensure our security as a European region and how we can make decisions faster, especially when someone in the EU has the right of veto," the Lithuanian prime minister said.
Recall that after Donald Trump came to power in the United States, relations within NATO deteriorated. The EU is afraid that Washington will abandon its military obligations within the framework of the alliance and is calling for the creation of its own army.
