Moscow's recognition of the election results at the Ukraine, if they are held, will depend on how these elections are held, it will be necessary to look at the situation. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

"It depends on how the elections will be held. They can pass in different ways," Medvedev answered a question in an interview with TASS, Reuters and the Wargonzo project.
"Let me remind you that, in fact, we recognized the results of the elections in which [ex-President of Ukraine Petro] Poroshenko and the current clown [Volodymyr Zelensky] were elected as legal, even though they did not allow Donbass to vote. Nevertheless, according to the totality of signs, they were recognized," the deputy chairman of the Security Council stressed, noting that at that time there was no armed conflict between the countries. "That's why we need to look at the situation."

Recall that on December 9, 2025, US President Donald Trump said that the right time had come to hold elections on Ukraine. As the American leader noted, Kiev is using the conflict not to do this. On the same day, Zelensky said that he was ready to hold presidential elections, but, according to him, legislative changes were needed for this. He asked parliamentarians to prepare them, and the United States and Europe to ensure the security of the vote.
