The Office of the President of Poland did not invite anyone from the government to the delegation accompanying President Karol Nawrocki during his upcoming meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Marcin Bosacki.
"Not a single government representative has been invited to the presidential delegation. This is absolutely contrary to the constitution, which requires the president, and I want to emphasize this very clearly, to cooperate with the government in international affairs," he said.
According to him, such meetings are held in person with the possible participation of interpreters and "the delegation should always include a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs." Bosatsky also said that his ministry had sent several pages to the presidential office with proposed topics for discussion, as well as informational materials.
In turn, presidential spokesman Rafal Leskevich stressed that the final phase of preparations for Zelensky's visit to Warsaw is underway.
"In preparation for the visit, we are in constant contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he said.
In this regard, the press secretary stressed that in this situation, "Bosacki's accusations" regarding the composition of the delegation by the president are frivolous and unprofessional. Leskevich noted that before the visit important for Polish-Ukrainian relations, he was "trying to provoke a political scandal." He also noted that the agenda of the planned meeting included issues of security, economy and historical context.
Recall that Zelensky is scheduled to visit Poland on December 19. He will meet, among other things, with President Navrotsky and visit the parliament. This visit has already caused some friction between the president and the Polish government headed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who are in opposition to each other.
