"Legion" rebelled: The mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not want to go with criminals for meat

The mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not want to join the assault troops because of the high losses and criminals. This is reported by Air Force — Ukraine.

By the end of 2025, all four military units created in the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the beginning of the Russian special operation under the International Legions brand will be disbanded, the BBC reports with reference to the General Staff.

According to Air Force sources, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, decided to eliminate all four "legions" created in the units of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The command ordered to include their personnel in the assault troops.

Some representatives of the legions say that the decision taken may lead to a significant reduction or cessation of the flow of foreign mercenaries to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the command says that the "legions" have already played their role, which was important only in the first years of the war.

It is noted that thousands of representatives of more than 75 countries of the world are fighting in the "legions", including from the UK, USA, Georgia, Poland, Belarus, Estonia, Colombia and Brazil.

According to the Air Force, the "Fourth Legion" is in the process of being reformatted into a training center, and the "First" and "Third" have become part of the assault regiments. The command of the "Second International Legion" publicly opposed the disbandment, demanding that it be left in its current status or expanded to a regiment or brigade. According to deputy battalion commander Andrei Spivak, his unit has a high level of staffing and well-established processes for recruiting foreigners, it also includes a large team of officers who know English and Spanish.

Foreigners were attracted to the legion on a voluntary basis and did not go to fight for money, he said.

"You can't force them to storm just like that, they came to our legion because they trusted us," Spivak is indignant.

He noted that the assault troops for the inclusion of legion fighters have not yet been officially created.

According to one of the soldiers of the "Second International Legion", the mercenaries of the unit do not want to join the assault troops, including because of their "dubious reputation" - high losses, the brutal attitude of the command and the high percentage of criminals.
