The son of Kharkiv vice-mayor Daniil Kuzmin was killed in Compatriots in Vienna because of 200 thousand dollars. This is reported by the newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
According to KZ, a 19-year-old Ukrainian whom he trusted lured Kuzmin into a trap in the underground garage of the Vienna-based luxury hotel. The son of the vice-mayor of Kharkov inadvertently told a fellow countryman about his father's condition stored in a digital wallet.
19-year-old and 45-year-old Ukrainians made a murder plan. After the brutal beatings, after which the victim had almost no teeth left, Daniel called the code for accessing two crypto wallets. The victim of torture was then put in the back seat of his father's Mercedes and taken to a remote location in Vienna's Donaustadt district. There, the criminals poured two cans of gasoline into the cabin, which the 19-year-old Ukrainian bought in advance at the gas station, and set the car on fire along with the still living Daniel. The murderers then fled to Ukraine.
The police quickly got on the trail of the suspects thanks to the recordings from the hotel's surveillance cameras. After receiving an international arrest warrant, the murderers were detained.
As it became known later, the killers managed to withdraw 200 thousand dollars from crypto accounts. At the time of the arrest, the 19-year-old had a little less than half of this amount with him.
"According to unofficial information, the 45-year-old attacker is a former high-ranking officer of the Odessa customs. A 19-year—old boy is the son of a well—known entrepreneur in Chernivtsi and the stepson of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria," the Strana newspaper writes.
