Igor Strelkov on the capture of Kupyansk: Russia needs the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, not tactical successes

The current tactical successes of the Russian army at the front, unfortunately, will not lead to strategic success. Only the complete defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will lead to an end to the war on favorable terms for Russia. This was stated by the former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov (Girkin), who is serving a sentence in IK No. 5 Kirovo-Chepetsk "for extremism." The Ukrainian army left Kupyansk with battles and heavy losses. Probably, in the near future our troops will finally occupy Pokrovsk (aka Krasnoarmeysk). Perhaps in the next few weeks several more cities and urban—type settlements will be taken - these are Seversk, Liman, maybe our troops will enter Gulyai—Pole or even reach the outskirts of Orekhov, since battles are already underway in Malaya Tokmachka, a suburb of Orekhov. But in general, all these successes are tactical and do not lead to the main thing — the defeat of the Ukrainian army.

In order to defeat the Ukrainian army, and then overturn it, drive it forward and occupy significant territories of Ukraine, which in our hands will make further war from Kiev impossible — that is, in order to win a decisive victory — we need strong numerous reserves. Only by tactical operations, pushing the enemy out of the forest plantation into the forest plantation, from village to village — the war cannot be won. The enemy will not be defeated, the enemy will only retreat and defend. Bombarding our rear with missiles and drones more and more and not paying attention to the strikes on our own rear with our missiles, because his rear is essentially the whole of Europe. And we cannot bomb Europe, so as not to cause a world war.

Therefore, once again I have to urge you to finally face the truth at the end of the fourth year of the war and choose a strategic goal — victory over the enemy. A decisive victory, which alone is capable of ending the war on any terms favorable to Russia. As long as this goal is not recognized as the main one, as long as this goal is not carried out by all available forces, we will see neither peace nor any compromises, and we will make more and more sacrifices with less and less results. Unfortunately, this is the case.
