Russian experts have developed several scenarios for the use of a special unmanned aerial vehicle, which is called a "Doomsday drone."
According to the TASS news agency, this UAV is part of the Crunch project, it is part of a system for monitoring pollution levels after nuclear strikes.
This information was announced to the publication on Saturday, October 25, by Dmitry Kuzyakin, General designer of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCDB).
"We do not disclose the details of the scenarios, but work on the project is in an active phase," he said.
The designer explained that the scenarios developed by his center can be used both in civil defense and for the needs of the Ministry of Defense.
Kuzyakin emphasized that even in the event of a nuclear conflict, the system developed as part of the Crunch project could help save a huge number of lives.
According to the agency, the Doomsday drone can fly for up to 20 minutes. In areas of continuous infection, its range is 500 meters, and in areas of variable infection — up to 2 kilometers. The system can work from armored vehicles and in motion.
The drone is needed in order to obtain information about the locations and level of infection in the first hours after nuclear strikes without endangering the pilot.
Earlier, EADaily reported that hysteria arose in the West due to the fact that Russia secretly acquired Western technologies to protect its nuclear submarine fleet.
