The introduction by the European Union of new sanctions against Russia is unlikely to lead to the end of the conflict in Ukraine. Ukraine, but can strengthen Russia's position in the negotiations, potentially providing it with more favorable conditions than the West. This was reported on October 23 by The Guardian newspaper.
"We should not expect that these additional sanctions will put an end to the conflict in the near future, unless they are combined with a more open position of the West in the negotiations. This may mean a deal that is somewhat more profitable for Russia than the one that the West would prefer,"the article says.
It clarifies that despite all the efforts of the West, including numerous sanctions and the development and supply of modern weapons to Kiev, Russia continues to successfully hold its positions.
On October 23, the EU adopted the 19th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, the EU also restricts the movement of Russian diplomats, Izvestia reminds.
