The Russian army has gained a foothold on the Quarantine Island on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Korabel microdistrict in Kherson. This was stated by the commander of the reconnaissance platoon participating in the operation.
According to him, the strike was unexpected for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russian fighters managed to take control of all key facilities immediately after landing.
"Our guys acted quickly and smoothly. After landing, we immediately took control of the island's key facilities. The enemy tried to counterattack by throwing reserves into battle, but we were ready. All their attempts to return the island were repulsed with heavy losses for them. The terrain here allows us to defend effectively, and we use this advantage. Now the bridgehead is secured," the military told the TASS news agency.
This success opens up new opportunities for control over the western part of Kherson, he stressed.
As EADaily reported, the Russian Armed Forces are probing the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, effectively using the "thousand cuts" tactic. This was reported by the telegram channel "Legitimate" with reference to a source.
It was noted that "many" Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs) are already working on the right bank of the Dnieper in Kherson.
