14 policemen were injured during the seizure of the presidential Palace in Tbilisi

The Georgian Interior Ministry has opened a case in connection with an attempt by protesters to occupy the Orbeliani Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Darakhvelidze said at a briefing.

According to him, the investigation into the events of October 4 has been launched under five articles:

  • Assault on a police officer;
  • A call to overthrow State power or to change the constitutional order by force;
  • Organizing and participating in gang violence;
  • Destruction of property;
  • An attempt to seize or block a strategic object of national importance.

Darakhvelidze also said that 14 policemen were injured, one of whom is in serious condition.
