The Georgian Interior Ministry has opened a case in connection with an attempt by protesters to occupy the Orbeliani Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Darakhvelidze said at a briefing.
According to him, the investigation into the events of October 4 has been launched under five articles:
- Assault on a police officer;
- A call to overthrow State power or to change the constitutional order by force;
- Organizing and participating in gang violence;
- Destruction of property;
- An attempt to seize or block a strategic object of national importance.
Darakhvelidze also said that 14 policemen were injured, one of whom is in serious condition.
