Composer Leonid Velichkovsky, a former member of the bands "Technology" and "Bioconstructor", asks the court to recover 2.45 million rubles from the label "Jam" and singer Lada Dance (Lada Volkova) for the illegal use of his music in the video clips of the performer.
According to court documents, Velichkovsky is the owner of the rights to the music, he claims that "Jam" should have received the consent of all copyright holders to post clips on platforms, including songwriters, but the label did not.
The composer himself told RIA Novosti that Lada Dance was brought in by a co-defendant after "Jam" stated in court that he had received the rights to the video clips from her.
"At the same time, I did not transfer my copyright to Lada Dance either," the author noted.
We are talking about seven songs — "Baby Tonight" ("Girl-night"), "Dancing by the sea", "Love Racer", "Cowboy", "Erase the tape", "Night Sun" and "You need to live in high". The clips are posted on the Yandex Music service, the site is involved in the dispute as a third party.
The lawsuit was filed in September 2024, the Moscow Arbitration Court will continue hearings on the case in December this year.
Earlier, arbitration courts of two instances, in another lawsuit by Velichkovsky, forbade Jam to use his songs performed by Lada Dance by posting them on the Apple-owned iTunes service.
