French media are monitoring the situation in various cities of the country, where mass protests against austerity measures are taking place today. Participants block roads, and in In Paris, protesters broke into the back of the French Economy Ministry, Le Figaro newspaper reports.

In the morning, demonstrators blocked the entrance to one of the bus parks in the east of the French capital. After the intervention of the police and the use of tear gas, the entrance was unblocked.

In the city of Chambery in the south-east of the country, protesters on bicycles blocked a roundabout.

In Toulon, protesters blocked two roads at the entrance.

In addition, the protesters tried to block one of the transport interchanges near Caen in the north, but the police dispersed them.

In Lyon, the demonstrators managed to block one of the roundabouts in the city.

In Marseille, protesters blocked the entrance to one of the automobile tunnels. In total, there were 18 cases of blocking of transport arteries in the city, but after the intervention of the police, traffic was restored.

In Toulouse, protesters tried to block the railway tracks, but the police prevented them.

Strikes by workers in the transport sector have also led to changes in the modes of operation of public transport in many large cities.

As EADaily reported, today French trade unions are holding regular mass demonstrations across the country in protest against austerity measures proposed by the government against the background of budget deficits and huge public debt. The pickets were attended by employees of the transport and energy sectors, education and health workers, farmers and even firefighters.

On September 10, about 200 thousand people joined the mass demonstrations under the slogan "Block everything". Hundreds of demonstrators were detained after some actions escalated into clashes with the police. This time, according to the French Interior Ministry, about 800 thousand people will come out to protest.
