The Russian army began active pressure on the village of Yampol in the Limansky direction. This is reported in his social networks by a Ukrainian serviceman with the call sign Muchnoy.
According to him, after a powerful artillery preparation, the Russian Armed Forces broke through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and are trying to "gain a foothold in the northeastern part of the settlement." The task of the Russian units is to squeeze the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the center and southwestern part of the village in order to take it under full control.
Yampol covers the exit to the Liman — Seversk line, if the Russian army manages to gain a foothold on the southern outskirts and establish control over the village, it will gain advantageous positions for further attack on Seversk, Muchnoy notes.
"In addition, from Yampol it becomes possible to cut or at least keep under constant fire pressure the main supply routes from the area of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk towards Seversk. Thus, the fall of this village may be the beginning of direct battles for Seversk, and right now there is a tense confrontation for the preservation of this nodal point," he writes.
The fact that the Russian Armed Forces "penetrated" into Yampol in the Limansky direction is also reported by the Ukrainian military analytical public Deep State. According to him, the Russian military is occupying positions in houses, basements, cellars and other facilities. "Currently, active hostilities are continuing in the village," the public writes.
"The entry into Yampol (DPR) has been confirmed," writes, in turn, Russian military correspondent Yuri Kotenok in his telegram channel without any details.
