The Armenian Foreign Ministry did not comment on Azerbaijani media reports that Pakistan blocked Yerevan's application to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ani Badalyan said she would not go into details on this issue.
"At the moment we will not go into the details of the process, but I can say that we observe a rather constructive approach and mutual understanding on the issue of Armenia's membership. With this perception, we will continue to work with interested SCO member states towards further development of mutually beneficial partnership with the organization," Badalyan said on September 1.
On July 3, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that Yerevan had expressed a desire to become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. On July 16, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that the country had applied to the SCO to join the organization.
As Badalyan noted, taking into account mutual understanding, Armenia will continue to work with interested SCO states on further development of mutually beneficial partnership with the organization.
As EADaily reported, earlier the media reported that Azerbaijan's application to the SCO was blocked by India.
