Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Fritz, serving as part of the units of the US Army in Estonia, offered to buy from Russia the Commander Islands in the Bering Sea, which are part of the Aleutian region of the Kamchatka Territory. This is reported by the Breaking Defense portal.

"The Commander Islands are located directly along the potential route from the Chinese Jianzhejian naval base to The Arctic," said the lieutenant colonel, arguing his idea.

According to Fritz, Washington could offer Moscow $ 15 billion for the islands, this amount should be enough to buy out the entire archipelago of four islands. The islands are needed by the United States to deploy appropriate equipment on them capable of tracking Chinese submarines on their way to The Arctic. And the Commander Islands could administratively become part of the state of Alaska.

Fritz also recalled the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867. This purchase was initially considered "stupid", but now Alaska is the "cornerstone" of the country's energy and defense strategy. Therefore, the US authorities need to think about a "peaceful and pragmatic" purchase and Commander Islands.

In Russia, they have already begun to comment on the proposal of Lieutenant Colonel Fritz. So, the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergey Mironov offered to buy Alaska from the USA.

"We could buy Alaska in response to this, that's all. I think they will survive. Life will put everything in its place," said Mironov. In his opinion, "in their reasoning, Americans do not take into account the experiences and thoughts of people who live in these territories."

And the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, recalled that the sale of the Motherland is one of the most terrible crimes, recommending that Fritz spend 15 billion to pay off at least part of the US national debt.
