Sergei Tikhanovsky and others received terms after the failed attempt to overthrow Alexander Lukashenko.

They were released on the day of the visit of the special representative of the US President Keith Kellogg to Belarus. Judging by the video, the family has already reunited.

As EADaily reported, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with the special envoy of the US President for Ukraine Keith Kellogg. This was announced today, June 21, by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Recall that blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky, a candidate for the presidency of Belarus, was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2021 for organizing mass riots. The court made the corresponding decision on December 14.

The closed trial took place from June 24 in Gomel pre-trial detention center. Within the framework of one case, several people were detained at once, who were detained back in May — June 2020, before the presidential elections and the riots that followed. According to the announced verdict, Sergei Tikhanovsky, who collected signatures for the nomination of presidential candidates, received 18 years in prison, politician Nikolai Statkevich — 14, blogger Igor Losik — 15 years. In addition, Artyom Sakov received 16 years, Vladimir Tsyganovich - 15 years, Dmitry Popov — 16 years.
