In August, Ukraine exports more electricity than it imports. At the same time, there are no rolling blackouts in the country and in Kiev is announcing the restoration of a large capacity of power plants.
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said in the Verkhovna Rada that 15 GW of own generation is available for the evening maximum today. Thus, more than 40% (6 GW) are provided by nuclear power plants, 25% (3.75 GW) — Thermal power plants, another 15% - hydro (2.25 GW).
According to him, by November 1, they want to increase the generation capacity to 19.6 GW, and by the end of the year to 21.4 GW. These are significant volumes, which are sufficient for self-sufficiency.
"4.8 GW of generating capacity has already been repaired. Another 4 GW of power is under repair. In total, it is planned to restore and build more than 10 GW of capacity," the minister said.
According to Ukrenergo, there are no plans for power outages in the country on August 21. Moreover, according to ENTSO-E, today the planned Ukrainian commercial electricity exports will exceed imports by 10 GWh - 14.5 GWh.
Obviously, the bulk of the supplies will be provided by solar power plants, which the minister did not mention. Earlier, his department estimated the current capacity of the SES at 7.3 GW, which makes this source of electricity the second after the NPP. On the one hand, with the current weather, consumption in the country is low. On the other hand, day generation exceeds demand.
Be that as it may, but so far Ukraine cannot without imports, at least in the evening, when the sun goes down, and judging by the data and statements, Ukraine is in a hurry to recover from the retaliatory strikes of the Russian army and do it by the heating season.
