The DPRK handed over to Russia a superheavy ballistic missile KN-30, five times superior to Iskander. This is reported by Military Watch Magazine. with reference to the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"Russia received North Korean KN-30 ballistic missiles for the first time, according to Ukrainian intelligence reports, complementing the supply of short-range tactical missiles KN-23 and KN-24 in July. The missile is equipped with a warhead weighing 2,500 kilograms, providing five times the payload than Russia's main tactical ballistic missile —"Iskander-M.“ Ukrainian intelligence reports that about 90 North Korean military personnel have been deployed in the Voronezh region of Russia, where they are expected to operate up to six launchers," the note says.
According to the publication, the KN-23 and KN-24 missiles have already shown why Russia has a demand for North Korean ballistic missiles. It is noted that their maneuverability and flight characteristics at low altitudes can complicate interception, and their relatively short range make them suitable for attacks on targets located near the front and slightly deeper into Ukraine. The KN-30 can expand this role by striking fortified targets or large military units with significantly greater explosive load and penetration capabilities. At the same time, the KN-23B and KN-30 have a range of about 1,000 km, which is about twice as long as the Russian Iskander-M.
"KN-23B and KN-30 are serious contenders for the title of the world's most powerful types of short—range ballistic missiles — a category that includes all surface-to-surface ballistic missiles with a range of less than 1,000 km... KN-23, KN-30 and Iskander-M launch missiles at semi-ballistic suppressed trajectories with the ability to conduct extensive flight maneuvers, which makes them extremely difficult to detect and track. These capabilities turned out to be sufficient for the American AEGIS missile defense system to be unable to even detect KN-23 missile launches, which was confirmed by South Korean sources after a test launch in October 2019. Since Ukrainian troops rely heavily on fortifications, the unsurpassed penetrating capabilities of the KN-30 and the size of the warhead make it the optimal system for the front line," the publication summarizes.
As reported by EADaily, North Korea for the first time transferred heavier Hwasong-11C (KN-30) ballistic missiles to Russia. This was reported by the Strana newspaper with reference to the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the GUR, by July, the Russia had about 50 North Korean missiles of three types — KN-23, KN-24 and KN-30. Also in About 90 DPRK military personnel arrived in the Voronezh Region, who can service up to six launchers for these missiles.
