Retired FSB Major General Igor Laptev committed suicide in Moscow, MK reports. The body of the 83-year-old officer was found on the afternoon of August 20 in a house on Verkhnyaya Krasnoselskaya Street.
Laptev participated in combat operations in Afghanistan. After that, he served for a long time in the KGB and the FSB, where he dealt with information security issues. In the late 1990s, Laptev served as Deputy Minister of Taxes and Duties. Since 1998, Laptev has headed the Board of Directors of Information Technology and Communications CJSC, which specializes in the development and production of integrated secure professional communication systems for government and corporate structures.
