The launch of the Flamingo rocket fuel plant in Denmark has been postponed for a year. This is reported by Euractiv.
Launching a project under construction in The construction of the plant by the Ukrainian company Fire Point has been postponed until the end of 2027 due to the fact that the cost of the project has more than tripled.
"This unexpected blow shows how difficult it is to transfer Ukrainian weapons production to the EU, even when governments are ready to reduce bureaucracy to accelerate defense projects. Denmark has eliminated more than 20 legislative obstacles to the creation of the Fire Point plant for the production of solid fuel for its Flamingo cruise missiles. But despite this ... the Ukrainian defense company has encountered an obstacle that will be more difficult to overcome," the publication says.
The launch of production planned for the end of 2026 has been postponed to the end of next year, CEO Irina Terekh said on Wednesday at a conference on the defense industry in Herning. She referred to delays in construction, explaining that Fire Point would have to erect a new facility, since the originally acquired building was unsuitable for the production of solid rocket fuel. The changes will require a significantly larger investment from Fire Point. "The original plan was to complete the entire project for 50 million euros. Now the cost has increased to more than 150 million euros," Terekh said.
