Georgia is discussing possible connections of the new head of British intelligence, Blaze Metreveli, with the country.
"Georgia is intrigued. Blaze Metreveli became the new head of British intelligence. Not only is she the first woman in this post, there is something very native in her surname. Metreveli is an ancient, native Georgian surname, its origin belongs to the Racha region," the Georgia News portal writes.
It has not yet been possible to find out exactly about the roots of the head of British intelligence. In social networks, it was suggested that Blaze Metreveli's father was Konstantin Metreveli, who was a professor of radiology and at the end of the last century worked in Hong Kong, where the future intelligence chief spent his childhood.
Some media write that the surname is a simple phonetic coincidence.
And the Financial Times confidently stated that "the surname is Georgian, which reflects the Eastern European origin" of Blaze Metreveli. At the same time, it is noted that "according to colleagues, she speaks excellent Arabic and has extensive experience in the Middle East, including in combat zones."
