A possible telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could lead to an agreement that would leave Ukrainians without everything. Such a statement was made by retired Lieutenant Colonel of the US Armed Forces Daniel Davis, RIA Novosti reports.
"This is only a bad deal for Ukraine. There will be no good deal for them — there is only a bad deal that can get even worse. Ukrainians still face the threat that they will either have to agree to the negotiations that the Russians are asking for., < or abandon it and continue fighting, which could eventually lead to a military defeat," he said.
According to Davis, the upcoming dialogue between the leaders of Russia and the United States may be a turning point that will have a significant impact on the development of events.
"And I'm looking forward to what happens on Monday, because it could be a really big day," he continued.
On Saturday, Donald Trump announced his intention to hold a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the beginning of the week. During the conversation, it is planned to discuss the situation on Ukraine and ways to resolve the conflict.
Trump also said that after that he intends to hold talks with Vladimir Zelensky and the heads of NATO member states.
The US President expressed his conviction that following the results of negotiations with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement on a truce.
