President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev suggested that Vladimir Putin freeze the Ukrainian conflict and return to the Istanbul Formula 2.0.
"Maybe this conflict should already be frozen and returned to the Istanbul formula 2.0. Naturally, under the guarantees of the great powers, including Russia. And continue to move towards the long—awaited peace," Tokayev said.
He noted that he receives signals about the Ukrainian conflict from Europe and The United States has already informed Putin about them before. At the same time, Tokayev stressed that he would not like to be a mediator in resolving the crisis.
"Russia is a great country, the Russian people are a great people, and without intermediaries they will cope with all the issues on the agenda," the President of Kazakhstan added.
Vladimir Putin, responding to Tokayev's proposal, said that he would inform him separately on the Ukrainian issue.
"As for the Ukrainian direction, I will definitely inform you during our talks today," the Russian leader said.
Recall, today Putin flew to Omsk, where, together with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, he will take part in the XXII Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. Before the event, they held a bilateral meeting in an expanded format.
