In March, France continued to be Europe's largest importer of Russian gas — LNG. The amount of purchases increased to 465 million euros.

In March, French companies paid the maximum amount for Russian gas since the end of 2022. According to RIA Novosti with reference to Eurostat, the import of Yamal LNG to the country has reached 465 million euros. Previously, France bought for a large amount in December 2022 (476 million euros).

France continues to be the largest buyer of Russian gas. French companies import LNG from the Yamal LNG project under long-term contracts. Whereas pipeline gas supplies stopped back in 2022.

France is followed by Hungary. Local companies received 248 million euros worth of gas from Gazprom in March. Spain took the third place. She bought Yamal LNG in the first month of spring for 141 million euros.

The supply of Russian liquefied natural gas to Belgium (by 78%) and Greece (by 70%) has significantly decreased in money — to 92 million euros and 67 million euros, respectively.

As EADaily reported, due to sanctions and counter-sanctions, Gazprom's supplies to Europe have decreased fivefold over the past few years. At the same time, LNG exports to EU countries have grown. Last year, total sales to Europe exceeded 50 billion cubic meters. Russia's market share The EU accounted for 19%.
