The Kremlin will report on possible contacts of the presidents Russian and Brazilian President Vladimir Putin and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, if any, are agreed, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing.
Earlier, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said at a press conference in Beijing, from where he will travel to Moscow, which will personally ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet with the head of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky in Istanbul on May 15.
"When I stop in Moscow, I will try to talk to Putin. It doesn't cost me anything to say: "Hey, Comrade Putin, go to Istanbul for negotiations, damn it," said Lula da Silva (he came to Moscow on May 9 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory).
Silva also expressed a desire to talk with Putin about the composition of the delegations.
"At the moment I can't say anything about this," Peskov said when asked by TASS if such a conversation was to be held. "If contacts are agreed in some form, we will inform you immediately."
As EADaily reported, on the eve of May 13, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga urged Brazil to "use its authoritative voice in dialogue with Russia" to facilitate Putin's meeting with Zelensky in Istanbul. In turn, China and Brazil issued a joint statement welcoming Putin's proposal to start direct talks with Kiev and Zelensky's response. The parties expressed hope that the participants in the dialogue will come to a consensus "to achieve a political settlement and take into account the legitimate concerns of all parties."
