The former leader of the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Frauke Petry, plans to create a new party that will adhere to a liberal course in economic policy. She announced this on May 5 in an interview with the newspaper Die Welt.
The main directions of the association are expected to be the development of the German economy and the conclusion of cultural ties with Western countries.
Petri noted that the party in the project, whose name has not yet been disclosed, will be "el dorado" for businessmen and private entrepreneurs. She also stressed that this would be the "free, state-independent proposal" that would fill the gap between the parties of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the AFD.
The development of the draft of a new political alliance is planned to be completed by 2026 for participation in the elections. According to Petri, non-partisan citizens with life and professional experience can become members of the association.
Frauke Petry served as the leader of the AfG from 2013 to 2017.
