The authorities of Almaty allowed the march of the "Immortal Regiment" to be held on May 9. This is reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The procession will begin on May 9 at 10:00 local time from the Central Park (formerly Gorky Park) along Gogol Street to Zenkov Street. Then the column will enter The park of 28 Panfilov Heroes, where the participants of the action will lay flowers to the Eternal Flame.
The action "Batyrlarga tagzym" ("Let's bow to the heroes") has been coordinated with the akimat (administration) of Almaty, chairman of the public association "Union of Veterans of Afghanistan" Murat Abdushukurov told Sputnik.
"This is the continuity of generations so that our young people understand that they are also responsible for their country. Therefore, I think that it is already being carried out, but I think that it should be approved at the legislative level. There should be such an action," he said.
Abdushukurov stressed the need to raise the spirit of the younger generation, "so that they are brought up by the example of heroes from their family."
The movement "Immortal Regiment" in Kazakhstan began in 2013, a year after its foundation in Russia. From the very beginning, the action received wide support in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Petropavlovsk and other cities. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets with portraits of their relatives who fought in the Great Patriotic War.
