The explosion in the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas occurred due to a substance used as an ingredient for solid rocket fuel, the New York Times reported, citing a source.
"A person associated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that sodium perchlorate, the main ingredient of solid rocket fuel, exploded," the newspaper writes.
A powerful explosion occurred on Saturday afternoon in the port of Bandar Abbas. According to media reports, it occurred at the pier as a result of a fuel tank fire.
