Discussion initiated by the UK and France on sending to Ukraine's military contingents of European countries have clearly deviated from the course and is untimely.
This was stated in an interview with the German edition of Die Welt by Finnish President Alexander Stubb. He expressed his conviction that before discussing the possible deployment of foreign troops to Ukraine first needs to achieve an end to the conflict.
In this regard, according to Stubb, the statements of a number of European leaders about the introduction of a military contingent into a belligerent country are symbolic.
"There are many other ways for us to continue supporting Ukraine," the Finnish president said.
The politician pointed out that the first step towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict could be a truce. However, he immediately made a reservation that the truce does not mean the end of the conflict, and "it needs to be monitored."
Recall that the main initiators of the introduction of European troops on Ukraine is represented by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Many experts believe that in this way they are trying to secure a place for themselves at the negotiating table on Ukraine, where Russia and the United States have not yet invited them. At the same time, not everyone in Europe wants to join the Anglo-French "campaign on The East."
As reported by EADaily, earlier Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that his country would not send its troops to Ukraine. And that Warsaw's position on this issue will not change after the presidential elections.
