In Russia, it is planned to resume production of Renault cars, which will be presented on the market under a new name.
As the Russian Automobile Telegram channel reports, the small-scale assembly of cars will be carried out by the Vostochny Outpost company in Vladivostok.
We are talking about third-generation Renault Master trucks and vans, which will be referred to as Forpost Recruit in the certification documents.
It is planned to import machine kits for assembly from China. Vans and semi-frame chassis designed to install various add-ons will be available to buyers.
This project cannot be attributed to large-scale production, rather it is of a pilot nature. By 2027, it is planned to produce only 20 cars per month, which will amount to 240 units per year.
Such insignificant production volumes will allow the Eastern Outpost not only to pass simplified certification, but also to adequately assess market demand.
At the same time, the possibility of returning mass-produced Renault models to Russia is also not excluded, since the option to repurchase assets is valid until 2028.
However, the Moscow Renault plant will not be returned to its former owner, as it has become state property and currently Moskvich cars are manufactured there.
Earlier, EADaily reported that the leading South Korean supercorporations Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are considering the possibility of returning to the Russian market.
