"The last summer of the world!" — panic attack of a German professor

The famous German military historian Zenke Knitzel from The University of Potsdam threw a tantrum about the "last summer of the world".

In an interview with Bild, Professor Knitzel said that "Russia may attack a NATO country as early as autumn [2025]," and the Bundeswehr is "poorly prepared for this."

"The global security situation is unstable because of Putin and Trump. Major Russian exercises have been announced in Belarus. We see great fears on the part of the Baltic countries that Russians will cross the border during these exercises. And we see that the NATO mutual assistance clause will probably no longer apply, at least in the case of the United States. Deterrence will be weakened," says the historian.

According to Knitzel, the biggest problem in the European Union is the shortage of ammunition.

"Since 1990, we have always bought exactly as much ammunition as we need to conduct exercises, but not for war. Even during the Cold War, ammunition was a real Achilles heel. There was enough fuel, enough troops, and there were mobilization plans. But during the Cold War, we often only had enough ammunition for ten days," he said.

The second problem, according to a German professor, is electronic warfare.

"We have too few satellites, our intelligence is too weak!", the German military analyst continued to get hysterical, adding that Europe needs to arm itself, since the United States is no longer the guarantor of security.

When asked whether Germany should start developing its own nuclear weapons, Neitzel replied that it would be more realistic to first extend the French nuclear umbrella to other European countries.

"Whether such a war will happen depends on the reaction of the entire NATO, on the role of Trump, on the role of the Europeans, on whether the world will be on Ukraine, no matter how it looks. I do not believe that Putin will decide on such a step (to attack NATO countries. — EADaily), while he has to fight on Ukraine," the military historian summed up.
