Russia is sympathetic to the call of US President Donald Trump to be guided by humanitarian considerations in relation to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. This was stated at a meeting of the Russian Security Council by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He stressed that if they lay down their arms and surrender, they will be guaranteed life and decent treatment in accordance with international law and the laws of the Russian Federation. Now it's up to the military-political leadership of Ukraine, which must give the appropriate order to its troops.
"We have familiarized ourselves with today's appeal by the US President, Mr. Trump, to spare the lives of the Ukrainian army servicemen, parts of which are blocked by Russian troops in the invasion zone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. In this regard, we draw your attention to the fact that Ukrainian militants committed numerous crimes against civilians in the invasion zone. These acts, as I have already said, are qualified by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation as terrorism. At the same time, we understand President Trump's call to be guided by humanitarian considerations in relation to these servicemen.
In this regard, I would like to emphasize that if they lay down their arms and surrender, they will be guaranteed life and decent treatment in accordance with international law and the laws of the Russian Federation. For the effective implementation of the appeal of the US president, a corresponding order of the military-political leadership of Ukraine to its military units to lay down their arms and surrender is necessary," Putin said.
