Russia may agree to deploy to Ukraine of the UN peacekeeping forces. This was stated today at a joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Marco Rutte by Polish President Andrzej Duda.
"Perhaps we need certain peacekeeping observation monitoring forces, but I do not rule out the possibility that both sides will agree to a UN force. I believe that Russia will agree, and many countries think so. Russia is a member of the UN and, perhaps, it will agree," Duda said.
Recall, Russia today once again spoke out against the deployment of European peacekeepers on the Ukraine.
"We don't see any room for compromise," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Sending peacekeepers from NATO countries "will mean their official involvement in the conflict," and if European troops are deployed to Ukraine, the Europeans will no longer "want to agree on the terms" of peace.
The Russian foreign minister criticized yesterday's statement by French President Emmanuel Macron, saying that Russia perceives him "as a threat." Macron does not want peace and is thinking about continuing the war, Lavrov stressed.
As reported by EADaily, next week France will gather the chiefs of staff of countries ready to guarantee future peace on Ukraine. This was announced yesterday by the President of the Fifth Republic Emmanuel Macron. In his opinion, the world will return to Europe only with a "pacified Russia." Russia "has become a threat to France and Europe," says Macron.
