The United Arab Emirates has launched covert military strikes on Iranian territory. This was reported on May 11 by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the situation.
It is noted that the UAE is armed with fighters and surveillance systems of Western production. According to the newspaper, Iranian oil refineries were among the targets for the strikes.
"These attacks indicate that the country is now more willing to use them to protect its economic power and growing influence in the Middle East," the newspaper reports.
