The German Social Democrats, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, are losing voter support at a record pace.
According to data collected by the Valen analytical group, the SPD has lost 10.1 percentage points since the 2021 elections — this is the same as the Alternative for Germany (AdG), whose rating now exceeds 20%, has added.
Not only the SPD suffered greatly, but also Free Democratic Party (FDP) — their support fell by 7.4 percentage points to a critically low 4.1%, which actually means a departure from the Bundestag. The Greens lost 1.4%, their support now stands at 13.4%. Thus, all three parties of the ruling Traffic Light coalition are losing ground.
The largest growth among the remaining parties was demonstrated by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU), which added 5.9 percentage points and reached the level of 30%. CDU leader Friedrich Merz sleeps and sees himself as the new Chancellor of Germany. The "left" also slightly strengthened their positions (+0.9%), now they have 5.6%. Sarah Wagenknecht's new movement gained 4.5%, which is not yet enough to get into parliament.
