It makes no sense for Russia to carry out sabotage in the Baltic, but NATO has a great interest in building up its grouping near Russia's maritime borders. This was stated by the vice-speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.
"By definition, Russia has no geopolitical, let alone military interest in carrying out sabotage in the Baltic. This does not give us any advantages. But if you imagine that NATO members themselves arrange self—explosions in order to blame Russia for this, then the meanings immediately appear,"the politician wrote in his Telegram channel.
The senator believes that "NATO's interest in sabotage at sea pursues a specific goal — to justify the buildup of its military presence near the maritime borders of Russia."
"Globally — to make the Baltic Sea an internal sea of NATO," he said.
As reported by EADaily, earlier today the Norwegian police announced the detention of the Silver Dania vessel with a Russian crew on suspicion of alleged involvement in cable damage in the Baltic Sea between Latvia and Sweden.
