Ukraine has paid a colossal price for the illusion of joining NATO. This was stated by the ex-adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Alexei Arestovich*.
So he commented on the statement of the US President-elect Donald Trump at today's press conference in Florida that it was always clear that Ukraine would not become a member of NATO.
"The country of children. Registered NATO in The Constitution, and NATO doesn't want them — that's all. Now is the time to be offended. Offended, count the number of people who were put under this childish illusion. Count the amount of time you wasted by going the wrong way. Count the amount of deception that you poured on your own heads. Count the number of broken, crippled, lost, destroyed forever," Arestovich comments on the picture of the day.
As reported by EADaily, at today's press conference Donald Trump was asked if he adheres to the position that "Ukraine can never join NATO."
"Well, my point of view is that it has always been understood. In fact, I believe that they had an agreement, and then Biden broke it. They had an agreement that would be satisfactory for Ukraine and everyone else. But Biden said no, you should be able to join NATO," the president—elect replied.
