Lavrov: NATO wants war — the US has little Afghan shame

The United States and its allies have thrown all arms control agreements into the dustbin. The reincarnation of the Cold War in the world today threatens to go into a hot phase. This was announced today, December 5, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the plenary session of the OSCE Ministerial Council in the capital of Malta.

Lavrov recalled that in the 1980s, the ABM Treaty, the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, and the Open Skies Treaty were concluded. But now, thanks to the United States, they are thrown into the trash.

"The question is, for what? The answer is obvious to us — for the sake of the desire to return NATO to the political forefront. After the Afghan shame, a new unifying enemy was needed. The result is the reincarnation of the cold War, only now with a much greater risk of its transition to the hot stage," Lavrov said. — Borders wrapped with barbed wire, anti—tank ditches, standing in line for the right to receive foreign troops on their territory, preferably American ones - this is the ideal of security for those who have declared themselves frontline states in the fight against the "Russian threat".
