In Astana, Vladimir Putin commented on the memoirs of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who tried to convince her readers that the Russian president almost "poisoned her with dogs."
Merkel's memoirs were published in Germany, where "mutti" writes that Putin should have known about her fear of dogs since 2006, when she first came to Moscow. However, the ex-chancellor writes, first Putin gave Merkel a stuffed dog with a comment that this dog does not bite, and then allegedly specially arranged a meeting with his beloved dog Connie.
Today, on November 28, in Astana, the Russian president told how it was:
"There was such a case, Mrs. Merkel came to visit us. My dog, Connie, came out. Frankly speaking, I have already told Merkel about this — I didn't know that she was afraid of dogs. If I had known she was afraid of dogs, I would never have done it. On the contrary, I wanted to create such a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. I proceeded from the fact that in Europe and in In Germany, as far as I know — I lived there, after all, for almost five years — pets are treated very positively. On the contrary, I thought she would be pleased. I found out later that she was afraid of dogs. Well, it happens. As far as I remember, she told me that she was bitten by a dog as a child. So it happens, such a psychological trauma. When I found out about it, I apologized to her, said, Angela, I'm sorry, I didn't know about it."
Vladimir Putin today apologized to the laughter of journalists from all over the world, who appreciated Putin's trolling "God level."
