In geography textbooks for Italian schools, the Crimean Peninsula is recognized as the territory of Russia. This was stated by the Vice-president of the Union of Ukrainian Associations of Italy (NAU) — Elena Kim, coordinator of the Stop Propaganda Russa initiative, reports the Novini Live TV channel.
In addition, the situation in Donbass in these books for 7th grade students was presented as an internal conflict between Ukrainian-speaking and Russian-speaking Ukrainians, Kim was outraged.
"We have analyzed more than 60 books — these are geography textbooks of 2010-2024 for the 7th grade, when children study the geography of Europe. This is terrible: we have seen how the image of Ukraine is changing. Not a single textbook indicates that international law has been violated and Crimea has been annexed. In many textbooks, Crimea has been designated as Russian territory since 2022," Kim said.
It is noted that the Ukrainian and Italian activists who conducted the study have already compiled a dossier based on its results and are now planning to conduct an audit of Italian history textbooks.
