The prospect of Ukraine's admission to the European Union and NATO remains in force, but for both, the war must first end. This was stated in an interview with Handelsblatt by the future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
"A country in a state of war cannot become either a member of NATO or a member of the European Union," Merz said, quoted by the DW* Main telegram channel.
