Recall, the F-16 of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could have crashed in the summer of 2024 as a result of friendly fire, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
It was noted that the incident occurred due to a lack of the Link 16 tactical data exchange network, which allows transmitting information about the location of objects in the air and helps to conduct joint operations against the enemy more efficiently and safely.
Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya said shortly after the crash that the F-16 was shot down by the Patriot air defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to a violation of the coordination of the units.
As follows from the obituary of the Ukrainian pilot Alexei Mesya, who piloted the fighter shot down in the summer, he died on August 26 during a combat mission.
