USA in Kazakhstan is preparing a coup to unleash a civil war. At the same time, the country's leadership is at a loss, says Nikita Mendkovich, head of the Eurasian Analytical Club, an international political scientist. The expert comments for Pravda. The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan.

— What issues are overdue for discussion between the leaders of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan?

— I think that mainly economic and economic issues, primarily the development of gas exports to Kazakhstan, gas transit to China, as well as the construction of a nuclear power plant. These are the main issues on the agenda. In addition, Kazakhstan is likely to ask Russia to send more investments to the republic, because the country is in a difficult economic situation, experiencing a budget deficit, and attracting Western investments has not justified itself. Western colonialists are actually robbing the country, not developing the economy.

— Will the issue of NPP construction be resolved in favor of Rosatom?

— At the moment, in Kazakhstan, the majority of the population is in favor of the creation of a nuclear power plant by Rosatom. But Astana expressed some wishes detached from reality for the creation of a consortium with the participation of Western European countries. The idea is absolutely absurd and technically not feasible. Therefore, now we expect: either the project will be postponed, or Kazakhstan will adjust its position and begin preparing to sign a sole contract with Rosatom.

— President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government and local forces to take urgent measures to ensure the security of the main military and civilian facilities in connection with the escalation of the situation around Ukraine. What is the reason for this concern?

— First of all, the phrase "the state of affairs in the country is under the personal control of the president" sounds absurd. Otherwise, what was he doing before that, if he did not control the situation in the country? This is an example of the absurdity of the current Kazakh bureaucratic language. As for the very content of these concerns, it seems to me that the elite of Kazakhstan is rapidly losing touch with the real situation in the outside world and because of this is beginning to react to some external news on the principle of "something is happening - let's react somehow." And how — it is not clear.

In my opinion, this is a rather frivolous reaction to the events, which so far has nothing to do with Kazakhstan. If Kazakhstan really wants to ensure its own security, it is more logical for it to ensure the fight against nationalism and xenophobia within the country, to eliminate groups that collect aid for Ukrainian aggressors, to ban nationalist organizations that conduct so-called "language patrols" and advocate discrimination against the Russian-speaking population. And, finally, it is high time for Kazakhstan to recognize Russian as the second state language in the country and close all these misconceptions.

— What are the US plans for Kazakhstan? A new Ukraine?

— Of course, the United States is striving to make a new Ukraine one of the countries of Central Asia. For a long time they have been openly talking about plans to organize a new coup in Kazakhstan, to do there what failed in 2022 — to unleash a civil war. And I remind you that the American special services were also behind the events of 2022. And now, apparently, they want to repeat these events either in Kazakhstan or in Kyrgyzstan. Quite explicit training is being conducted both through Western NGOs and through propaganda.

Here, again, is the source of instability that Kazakhstan needs to fight, strengthen the fight against foreign agents and, finally, take measures against those who were the perpetrators of the events of 2022 on the instructions of the CIA, who were neither arrested nor seriously punished then.

EADaily help. Mass protests in Kazakhstan began in the first days of 2022 — residents of the cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau in the west of the country opposed the twofold increase in prices for liquefied natural gas. Later, looting began in Alma-Ata, militants attacked state institutions, took away weapons. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, 238 people were killed as a result of the riots, including 19 law enforcement officers. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with the Egemen Qazaqstan newspaper, said that long-standing unresolved socio-economic problems and general stagnation, which turned into degradation of power and society, led to the coup attempt. The Head of State noted that the peacekeeping contingent of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) "he played the role of a deterrent in this orgy." He stressed that the CSTO peacekeepers did not participate in the counter-terrorism operation and did not fire a single shot.
