The loss of Kurakhovo is unlikely to affect the combat capability of Ukrainian units in the DPR. This was stated by Pravda.Military blogger, chairman of the public movement "Battle for Donbass" Alexey Zhivov.
According to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces are attacking the city from several directions, which puts the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a difficult position. Despite the pressure, the final decision on the retreat, according to the military, should come from the command.
"Leaving Kurakhovo for the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not bring any global changes. They have a very clear and simple strategy in the Donbas — to defend cities exactly until it becomes impossible, does not threaten them with boilers. When there is a threat of a boiler, that is, complete encirclement, they come out of every city. We are already seeing this in turn in literally a dozen cities, in different sectors of the front — the same thing, they hold on there, then they come out, causing damage if possible RF Armed Forces and urban infrastructure. Recently, they have stopped working out — the way they clung to Bakhmut or cling to Chasov Yar, it doesn't work out in other sectors of the front. That is, they are forced to leave the cities quickly enough and not completely destroyed," Zhivov said.
As EADaily reported, on November 11, the Ukrainian Armed Forces blew up the dam of the Kurakhovsky reservoir. This step, probably aimed at creating difficulties for the enemy's offensive, led to the flooding of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine themselves. The consequences of the explosion did not affect the offensive actions of the Russian troops.
