Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he was flying to Budapest to meet with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban. Yesterday, the tongue did not turn to call them friends. To put it in the paraphrased words of a film classic, that's what life-giving Trump does!
Today, November 7, Donald Tusk said at a press conference:
"The US elections will have serious consequences for European politics, especially in the field of security. It is very important for us, I want to emphasize this, that Poland has clearly defined interests. Politics will become more complicated in the coming months for obvious reasons. Our western neighbor (Germany. — EADaily) there is still a government crisis. This adds even more salt and pepper to the current situation."
EADaily clarifies that Tusk and Orban, as they say, are long-time "sworn friends." A few years ago, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban described Poland as follows:
"The Poles are conducting the most hypocritical and duplicitous policy in Europe. I haven't seen such open hypocrisy in the last ten years!"
Warsaw's reaction was not long in coming. Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Teofil Bartoszewski, in response to Orban's words, said:
"Why doesn't Orban unite with Putin and similar authoritarian politicians? If you do not want to be a member of any club, you can leave it. Orban's words are not only anti—European, but even anti-Ukrainian and anti-Polish."
It is obvious that Warsaw, seeing the hyperactivity of Budapest after Trump's victory, is politically jealous, realizing that it can remain on the outskirts of Europe if Viktor Orban, in football parlance, becomes the main "picker" between the West and Russia.
