The head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, called for an investigation into possible violations in the elections in Georgia.
"We join the calls ... for a full investigation of all reports of election—related violations," Blinken said in a statement released by the State Department.
At the same time, as Blinken notes, international and local observers recognized that the elections in Georgia as a whole passed in accordance with the norms.
The CEC of Georgia completed on Sunday the counting of votes from all polling stations. According to the results of the processing of ballots, the ruling "Georgian Dream" gained 53.91% of the votes. Four opposition parties also entered parliament, receiving a total of 37.78%. Representatives of four opposition parties have already stated that they do not recognize the CEC data. The Special Coordinator of the short-term OSCE mission Pascal Alizar noted the good organization of the elections in Georgia, stating at the same time about a number of violations recorded by observers, RIA Novosti clarifies.
