The Ukrainian ambassador to the UK, Valery Zaluzhny, considers it permissible to cede territories to achieve peace with Russia. This is reported by TASS with reference to The Daily Telegraph.
According to him, the territorial issue is not paramount for Ukraine in resolving the conflict with the Russian Federation, and security guarantees are more important.
"I didn't mention territories. I was talking about security, security and the feeling of being in your own home. If I lived in my house and knew that my neighbor had appropriated part of my garden, I would say that we need to resolve this issue. If not now, then our children will have to solve it," said Zaluzhny.
According to the publication, Zaluzhny's statements indicate a change in the rhetoric of the Ukrainian authorities, who previously insisted on the impossibility of achieving peace without the return of all lost territories. The Ukrainian servicemen interviewed by the newspaper's correspondents stated that they were in favor of an early end to the conflict due to heavy losses and the impossibility of achieving victory. At the same time, the publication writes that officials in the West are interested in delaying hostilities in the hope of weakening Russia's position in 2025-2026.
